The Photography Annual Review of 2024

Studio Taupe Photography Annual Review 2024 - A year of creative projects and campaign-style photography
2024

Since 2018, I've made it a tradition to reflect on the year's shoots. You can find last year's annual review here. Continuing the tradition, I'm excited to share The Photography annual Review of 2024! Let me take you through the highlights of this packed year.

2024 was a year filled with more creative projects and campaign-style jobs. From packshots to full campaigns, it was rewarding to help my clients bring their visions to life. 2025 will be focusing more on campaign and model shoots. Curious to revisit what we accomplished last year?

01 January

Tall Tailors lookbook photography, Studio Taupe January 2024

January 2024 was a slower-paced month, with just a packshot and a lookbook shoot. This break offered some much-needed relaxation after the hectic December schedule. It also gave me the opportunity to update our "About the Studio" page by capturing new photos of the studio's refreshed layout for our main website.

02 February

February brought a mix of gloomy and sunny days. We began with lookbook shots on a taupe background before heading to LeRine for a shoot for Barista Essentials. But this was for sure the most gloomy day available. With the blinds up, it felt like perpetual twilight, I always bring lighting on location, to make sure we can get the most creative images out of it.

The last image you see was for a stylist expanding her portfolio. She rented a daylight studio The 18 Studio, but when I was driving towards the studio it again seems to be a super gloomy day. Luckily, as I arrived, unloaded my equipment the sun would break through the clouds so now and then, which resulted in the image you see above. Typical unpredictable February weather, right?

03 March

March focused heavily on creative product photography. I captured a range of images for Artistique, worked on location for a pillow client (though I can't share those images), and completed some fashion packshots.

04 April

April was a busy month, full of creative shoots with a distinct taupe vibe. Belly Moments loved the studio images of her statues (capturing expectant moms) so much that we booked a follow-up location shoot. We brought lighting to add depth to darker spaces.

We also created packshots for a bag Chano was adding to orders and wrapped up the month with an editorial shoot for extra-tall men. Dominique (a stylist we work with quite often) came by to style the basic items with some more complimenting items. Between these projects, we managed to fit in more packshots for Artistique.

05 May

May is usually a quieter month, so I took the opportunity to create fresh portfolio work. Writing this blogpost has already inspired me to start planning another creative shoot! Benthe, the model from the first image in this month, was thrilled with the results—so much so that she purchased extra images for her portfolio. That was an incredible compliment and a proud moment for me.

06 June

June was an exciting month as I landed a new client who trusted me to create an extensive set of creative images. I spent nearly two weeks bringing this project to life with a detailed shot list.

We also had a shoot planned with Reggy, a talented hair artist. He was so impressed with the images I captured of Lidewij the previous month that we brought her back as our model. I absolutely love photographing hair textures—they're truly my favorite subject!

07 July

This month was a mix of product shoots and creative portfolio work. One highlight was a studio shoot with a darker-skinned model—I loved how her skin and the background complemented each other.

Another exciting project was a tennis-themed shoot initiated by Tom, Studio Taupe's production manager. Despite the golden hour timing, the weather tested our patience, starting with morning rain that eventually dried up by the afternoon (and there weren't any puddles left on the gravel). Though stressful, the shoot produced fantastic results and reminded us of the challenges of location photography.

08 August

In August, we reconnected with a model we had worked with a few years ago. She was competing in a competition and wanted fresh beauty images, so we created a variety of images for her. This month also required a lot of time for jewellery photography. Capturing these shiny pieces, ensuring each gemstone was showcased beautifully.

09 September

September was a quieter month as we had a holiday planned. I kicked off the month by creating images for a jewellery brand, experimenting with some creative lighting techniques I'd been eager to try. Just before leaving for Austria, I managed to still shoot a lookbook, and delivered it just on time before my break.

10 October

October was a super busy month! Right before my Holiday, I got a lot of requests for the week I was on holiday. So I had to tell everyone that I wasn't available that week, so a lot got postponed to the week right after my holiday. It was a month with a lot of diversity in shoots. Beauty, Lookbook, products & paper art. The highlight was a campaign shoot for Sjumo, set in the stunning Loodz Mosa—an unforgettable project!

11 November

November was all about bedding photography. These shoots are time-consuming and quite intense, and with three scheduled this month, they kept me fully occupied. The entire month revolved around capturing the perfect bedding shots!

12 December

December was quite versatile. I worked on packshots, creative photography, and a retouching project for Artistique. And just like that, the year came to an end—the last few months flew by!

I hope you've enjoyed this look back at everything we created in 2024. I'm so excited about the opportunities 2025 will bring.

If you're looking for a photographer or retoucher in 2025, I'd love to collaborate on your next project. Best wishes for 2025, and see you on the blog soon!
